Playoffs have begun today & here is a recap of the best inning played in the League stages. SoBo SuperSonics southpaw Sujit Nayak played the best knock of the League so far in front of 8000 odd people at Wankhede on a night prior to Marathi New year, his unbeaten 42 ball 99 comprising of 9 towering sixes was indeed a gem of a knock. Nayak cruised to a half-century in just 26 balls.
ARCS’ bowler Pardeep Sahu who has also featured in IPL was his major target, Sujit even smashed Sahu for 20 runs in an over. The best part of his innings was when he was nearing a milestone of 100 runs which would have been the first hundred of the League he decided to put the team first instead of personal glory. Sujit told his partner at other end to continue swinging hard instead of rotating the strike. Rohan Raje obliged & hit 4 of the penultimate ball of the innings which left Sujit stranded on other end at 99.
However, his innings of 99 was as good as a century and it proved decisive in SoBo’s victory against North Mumbai Panthers. The icing on the cake was the chants of “Sujit..Sujit” from the Wankhede Stadium Crowd & a standing ovation he got when he went back to the pavilion on 99. Those memories will live with the aggressive left-hander forever. Also, Sujit Nayak’s name will now be a talking point among the Mumbai Cricket Circle & his performance will be carefully monitored by MCA selectors & even IPL Franchises. This is the beauty of T20 league where you can become a hero overnight.
